welcome. thanks
for checking out my site.

aria mayland and deana morgan: same person, different
name.
Adopting a different name usually signifies something deeply
important. My last name changed, quite simply, because I
got married. Morgan became Mayland. My first name changed,
however, for an entirely different reason.
That reason is something I'll explore more deeply, one
day. But for now, suffice to say that "Aria" much
more clearly expresses who I feel I am than "Deana"
ever did.
writing is fun:
Early on in my writing endeavours, I realized that in order
to write well, I must begin from a place of appreciation
and gratitude. So I began by writing about my most favorite
thing in the world - music.
Eventually, I was assigned to write about music I didn't
like, and I hated the process. Instead of bringing me joy,
it absolutely drained me.
I realized that I had to make a choice. I could continue
to pursue writing as a career, and be faced with assignments
that killed me. Or I could use writing to express what I
love about life.
I chose the latter. My stubborness kept me from ever pursuing
a full-time staff writing gig. But the upside is that I
have ultimate freeding in choosing my subjects.
writer's bio:
I was first published in 1999, in Lotus , an electronic
music lifestyle and culture magazine. Since then, I have
continued to write interviews, features, and reviews about
technology, music, film/video, health and wellness.
I have written for Wired, Flaunt, Film & Video, Remix,
Urb, B.P.M. as well as the now-defunct publications: Detour,
Mixmag, Mixer, and Lotus. Writing has also allowed me to
freelance for Mattel as a PR writer, and serve as the West
Coast Correspondent for DDMI Global.
Writing is inspiration and catharsis for me. It is pure
magic, and I am deeply grateful for the opportunities I
have.
I currently write for health and yoga publications. Look
for my articles in LA Yoga.
